Ingress Protection Ratings (IP Rating) for Waterproof Monitors
IP ratings are ingress protection ratings, they consist of 2 numbers, the first indicates protection against touch and foreign bodies, the second indicates protection against water. These can be vitally important when specifying rugged waterproof monitors for use in harsh environments where they will be in contact with dust and fluids. We have wide experience of manufacturing rugged monitors and computers up to the maximum IP69K rating and almost everything we produce will have some degree of IP rating.
Specialist waterproof touch screen monitors with extreme levels of sealing up to IP69K are available in the Bluestone range to allow use in extreme environments in wet or dusty conditions for commercial, military, marine, emergency services and industry, and can withstand cleaning by pressure washing at up to 120 Bar pressure and 70 degrees C (which maybe required for use within medical of industrial food applications).
Many suppliers make claims as to the degree of protection of their monitors, its always worth checking carefully as water ingress will usually cause serious damage, and even moist air ingress can cause internal fogging and condensation.
Its always worth bearing in mind, serious rugged monitors and computers from Bluestone are designed from the ground up to work in the most extreme environments around the world. Our rugged (ruggedised) computer monitors are specifically designed to operate reliably in harsh usage environments and conditions, such as strong vibrations, extreme temperatures and wet or dusty conditions. They are designed for the type of rough use typified by these conditions, not just in the external housing but in the internal components and cooling arrangements as well (sealed, waterproof displays cannot be cooled using traditional air circulation).
