Description
The challenging space requirements within the cockpit required an innovative custom design of a complete system that used the display in portrait rather than landscape mode.
Due to the extremely compact space envelope a special KVM system was designed to allow the monitor and touch screen to be connected to a computer system mounted remotely at the rear of the aircraft, this was then connected to a local module at the front of the aircraft via a cat 5 cable connection, the final connection to the monitor itself mounted in the viewing range of the pilot was made via a single umbilical cable to reduce cable clutter in the cockpit environment.
The entire system was fully sealed and used a high brightness LED backlit display with full dimming capability , and has been designed to operate in the harsh environment of a military test helicopter where shock vibration and operating and storage temperatures are at the extremes.
